SAFETY: It is imperative that you are educated on this course map and fully understand the directional flow of the race course.  Both Pre and Post racing can be dangerous.  DO NOT run the course in reverse!

Pre-running: I would advise avoiding the race course in reverse a minimum of a week prior to 2009 pre-running date and a week after the race closes.

If you are not racing the Baja 1000 this year and plan to be joy riding during these times, I advise avoiding the race course and heading south beyond the course.  Remember, during race times thieves are well aware of the kind of wealth associated with the event.  November will be high season for this kind of activity.  Tijuana through Maneadero (south of Ensenada) are always advised to avoid, especially at night.  I highly recommend avoiding this area during the entire month of November.

Make sure you print & take a copy of the course map and course notes with you for reference, if you plan to be in the area.
